One of SportingNews' many blogs. It blog got an amazing amount of traffic in the growing
MMA fanbase.
Many of the industry experts participated in it's design and publishing. [link]
Of all the top sports sites like ESPN, Yahoo, CBSSports, etc.. SportingNews was probably the first
to get a complete overhaul. A lot of that effort was put into Team pages. An aspect of sports sites
that had been lacking for a while.
One of my personal objectives while working with SportingNews was
to create a library of controls, containers, and formats for displaying content. The team pages (shown here) are
a pristine example of that library being put to use. In the end, the library was remarkably easy to maintain and dead simple to implement. [link]
Technologies Used:
HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Smarty
SportingNews: Live Scoring
Description:
One of my biggest projects, Live Scoring was a Flash application that would monitor the
users roster (list of players) in their fantasy league and track those players' STATS feed
for changes. If a change was noticed the users new scores would be highlighted and calculations would be made to
rank the user amongst the other players in their league, in real time.
The application also had a chat feature and various tools that could be used to get additional information on the
players. Also included was the ability to switch between teams instantaneously, research other opponents, and various
eye candy transitions and animations.
All of the UI components where made from scratch: TableRenderer, ScrollPane, and FontManager where built to be super
efficient(unlike Adobe's packaged components), predictable, and modular. The display elements are cleanly separated
from the Actionscript with a completely Object Oriented back-end.
